Water sport enthusiasts from both New Zealand and around the world return regularly to the central north island region known as Lake Taupo. A thriving town in the summer months with flocks of holiday makers booking accommodation in Taupo as close to the lake as possible to make the most of the water sport activities on offer. Despite Taupo being a reasonably small town, the lake certainly isn't, covering an area of 60,000 ha.
